A finance graduate from one of the top colleges in the nation, Ashkan initially wanted to work in investment banking but life, as we all know it, has a funny way of unfolding and he quickly became drawn to the promise and potential of the “.com” revolution. That being said, he started his career as an in-house finance analyst at one of the original meta-search engines on the Web, Mamma, before Google took over. From there, he worked in the online publishing industry where he headed up advertising sales for AskMen. After its sale to News Corp., he caught the entrepreneurial bug in 2005 and launched WatchMojo, which to this day has never raised financing and has been profitable since 2012.

A winner of the 2015 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, in the media & entertainment category, Ashkan Karbasfrooshan is the founder, CEO and chairman of WatchMojo, one of the most successful producers of premium video content on YouTube.

The company’s catalog of 18,000 videos on pop culture and infotainment are seen 300 million times each month by nearly 50 million consumers. It surpassed 100 billion minutes of watch time, in May 2020, and has achieved over 22 million subscribers, making it one of YouTube’s largest and most popular channels.
