2020 was the year streaming lapped linear.
For the past fifteen years, people have asked me what “inning we’re in.” I’d turn the question back onto them and ask: “what game of a best of 7 series do you think we’re in? That’s the question you should be asking, as it’ll determine what you need to be doing.”
2020 accelerated the momentum of streaming platforms. YouTube and Netflix dominate the AVOD and SVOD space, but with Disney, WarnerMedia and NBC launching their DTC offerings, as suspected, market share grew at the expense of their linear brethren.
Hollywood as we know it is dead.
